Requirements to rent a Car:

A Valid Driver’s License.

A valid driver’s license is an essential requirement to rent a car that eligible people need to take with them when renting a car in Uganda, Rwanda or Kenya.

It should be valid and up-to-date (throughout the period of hiring it), suitable for the type of car you want to rent, and issued by the right authority in Uganda or your country of origin or posses an International driver’s license.

The driver’s license should be clean and free of driving offenses; otherwise, Uganda rental car company could refuse your rental at the check-in counter.

Minimum Age.

Although you may posses a driver’s license, you need to be old enough for us to let you drive our vehicles. Persons over the age of 18 are lawfully allowed to drive vehicles. However, we at Afrik-Trek car rental accept people that are at least 24 years old to rent cars.

Otherwise, additional surcharges are usually applied for younger drivers who fall within the 21–23 age bracket, although this may vary from one condition to another. They may also be restricted by the type of car they are allowed to rent.

Therefore, check our car rental terms and conditions before booking for your next self-drive trip.

A Passport or an Identity Card.

You must consider packing additional ID documents when heading to your next destination. You must have acceptable forms of secondary identity to rent a car in Uganda.

Just ensure that your passport details – both the name and address – match exactly with your driver’s license when picking your rental car, and this also applies to national IDs.

Please note, we will need you to share a copy of your passport details for identification.

Travelers planning to go on a cross-country self-drive trip may have to present an international driver’s license.
